bangkok hotels
Alina B asked:

Any hotels around the Airport in Bangkok? I have to transit there before heading to Indonesia. I don’t want to spend much money on that though. Preferable for only budget ones or any special rates I can get?

There is a major hotel right at the airport. No transport required, you walk through a passageway from the hotet to the airport. I can’t remember the name, though.

The hotel with the overpass from the airport is named, strangely enough, The Airport Hotel.

    Cute name, eh?

Forget guest houses if you want it near the airport, there are none near airport. However, there are some cheap and nasty hotels just down the road.

Me? I sleep in the airport lounge is I have to kill time and don’t want to hit the big mango

    - Miracle Grand Convention Hotel
A year ago I went there for a meeting. It’s sure closed to the Airport but i didn’t stay there because it’s quite expensive.
    - Comfort Suites Bangkok
I stayed to this hotel instead because it’s cheaper. It’s not quite famous and you can’t really see the building from the street like it’s hiding. Additoinally there is a place around the hotel where u can walk to to get some food.

The hotel at the airport is over $100 a night although at one time they had a $25 special for just a few hours. (Possibly not typically used for sleeping I suspect). Taxi transportation to other hotels that you would expect would be close to the Airport is often longer than you would expect due to the traffic and lack of turnarounds on the roads. If your transit time is less than 8 hours, consider getting a relaxing 2 hour Thai massage at the airport, longer if you ask for “Special Services”

I highly suggest the Comfort Suites Bangkok. I had to stay there when travelling through Bangkok a couple of years ago. They offer a free transport to and from the airport, and the rates are completely affordable. I don’t know how long you are planning on being in Bangkok, but this hotel has a pool, free breakfast (it’s a huge buffet where you can get Thai or Western foods), and internet access is available in the lobby for a medial charge. The rooms are just like what you would find in most of the “western world,” and they are air conditioned. You WILL want air conditioning, as Bangkok is the steamiest place on earth!

Go to for more details, but according to this webpage, the current rate for a single, standard room is 1350 Baht. At the current exchange rate (1 USD=38 THB), the cost for one night is $35.52.

    Good luck and happy travels!

Well, I think you just want to find somewhere to stay just during your transition. Let’s see.

    1. Amari Airport Bangkok. It is the hotel directly connected to the airport. But the rate is kind of high.
    2. Gold Orchid Hotel. It’s just close to the Airport. But the rate is fine only about 30 - 35 dollars.

As well others nearby are available. There are some high and low rates. You can have a look and check by yourself for the nearest and cheapest at anyways.

If you are a transit passenger, you don;t have to come out of the airport, you can take rest at transit passenger’s lounge … it’s pretty good… In case you wish to come out of airport, then you need to get the visa first for Thailand before you travel to Thailand (if you are not eligible for visa on arrival, if you are from europe, some countries in asia, you will get visa on arrival… see details at ). Amari airport hotel is just attached to Bangkok airport, you can take rest there as well (but you need to get thai visa first)

Hope my answer comes to your assistance :)
