As well, it is easy to stop the car and talk to them when they are not behaving. Traveling by airplane with children can be much more challenging. However, by employing a few simple measures, you can make the flying experience much more enjoyable.

The following is a list of helpful tips to make flying with children less stressful:

1. It is important to make sure you are prepared for the flight. There are a number of items you will need to board the airplane. Make sure you bring your child’s passport and airplane ticket. When possible, purchase direct nonstop flight tickets so that you do not have to change planes which often is a hassle when traveling with children. For international air travel, book a bassinet for infants up to about 8kg. Ask the airline if they permit early boarding for families. Call the airline to see if they provide child seats. If they do not provide such seats, bring your own child seat. Arrive at the airport early and ask for bulkhead seats as they are roomier.

2. To ensure that your flight is peaceful, you need to keep your children busy while in the air. Many airlines offer video games, seat-back movies, activity books, comic books, and coloring books. You can also bring your own crayons, paper, puzzle books, toys, and game books. It will keep the kids entertained and focused during the flight and allow you to relax.

3. Many airlines will offer snacks; however, the food they distribute is not always suitable for children. Bring your kids favorite snacks and drinks. Do not give them food items that are high in sugar because it can cause them to become hyper during the flight. Water and juice are good choices. Other food items that are good choices include: bread sticks, small boxes of dry cereal, carrot sticks, apple pieces, raisins, bananas, rice cakes, and dried fruit.

4. When planning where you will stay once you arrive at your destination, choose an accommodation that caters to children. There are many resorts and hotels that provide free meals for kids and even allow children to stay for free. Some places also offer children’s activities, cribs, babysitting services, and recreational facilities for children.

5. It is important to keep children healthy, happy, quiet, and safe during the flight. When changing altitudes, children will often experience ear pain. For infants, you can lessen the pain and screaming by giving them a pacifier or a bottle. You can give older children gum to chew.

Because flying with children can be stressful, the night before the flight, make sure you get a lot rest. You want to make flying with children comfortable and enjoyable. By preparing ahead of the flight and planning how to keep the kids busy during the flight, you can help reduce the chances of problems arising and help ensure the flight is relaxing and fun.

It is astonishing that by just making a few checks you can save a lot of cash on air travel. It is obviously a good idea to look about to get the optimal flight costs for your trip. As obvious as it appears a lot of people do not take the time and they end up paying extra for their vacation travel just because they did not take a few moments to look around.

The simplest step would be to call a few travel agents and see what they can come up with. Make sure you double check what they tell you as they could be giving you biased data dependent on what will give them the greatest fees by selling you a specific firm. They may also neglect to mention an airline that does not pay them any fees. Some travel agents will give you a flight price with flight firms that do not pay them a any fees nevertheless they may have included a reservation charge in the final price. Discover the prices with the airline direct either on the net or by telephone whatever is the most convenient.

It is essential that you are aware of all the airline firms that operate the route you wish to go on so you are able to make the best choice. It is not always the lowest price that is the most favorable as spending a small bit more may give you a longer holiday with not as much time in the airport. If you are only going away for a weekend break it is more crucial that you are able to spend as much time in your selected destination as feasible.

Traveling to the correct airport is also important as some low cost flight firms advertise that they have seats to London. London has more than just one airport and they are not all that near to London itself. One of the London airports is a 45 minute train trip away from the heart on London. In some instances this can be just as long as the flight itself.

When you do find some flights make sure you equate the fares properly as a lot of flight firms add on lots of extras to the flight price. Typically extra baggage charges and fees to check-in at the airport are just to of the many extras that could be added on to your flight costs.

The Island of South Georgia

Author: Guest Author

The island of South Georgia, an inhospitable frozen wasteland of glaciers, snow-capped mountains and freezing winds, lies in the southern Atlantic Ocean east of Tierra del Fuego.

This remote Antarctic island is part of the British territory of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. The British claim to sovereignty of South Georgia dates from 1775 when Captain Cook landed here and dismissed the island as not worth discovering. Argentina also claimed the island in 1027, an unresolved dispute which contributed to the 1982 Falklands war when Argentine forces briefly occupied South Georgia.

In 1916 Ernest Shackleton became stranded on Elephant Island to the south-west, while on his Imperial Straits Antarctic Expedition, Shackleton and a small group of men left the rest of the party to summon help and ended up, after an arduous journey, at King Haakon Bay on the south coast of South Georgia.

They then managed to make it overland to reach help at Stromness whaling station, which led to the rescue of the remaining men. Daring a later expedition in 1922, Shackleton died on board a ship off South Georgia and he is buried on the island at Grytviken.

There is no permanent human population on South Georgia, only the British Government Officer, research scientists and museum staff at Grytviken, but there are enormous populations of penguins, the largest colonies anywhere on earth, with around 400,000 breeding pairs of king penguins, two million pairs of the macaroni penguins and large colonies of four other species.

Visitors come here to watch penguin couples overcome the extreme climatic conditions and nurture their precious eggs through hatching and the vulnerable chick stage into fully fledged members of the colony. The charming creatures work tirelessly together avoiding the seals that lurk in the shallows waiting to pounce and protecting their young from ferocious skua gulls who will snatch one and tear it to shreds.

When he landed here in the 18th century, Captain Cook noted the huge seal and whale populations around the island, but just two hundred years later both had been hunted nearly to extinction. South Georgia is, however, home to 95 per cent of the world’s southern fur seals, half the southern elephant seals, 250,000 Albatrosses, including the massive Wandering Albatross, and up to ten million other seabirds, making a trip here a totally unique experience.

Fly Smart. Traveling to England during the height of tourist season - typically during the summer months - is a great way to empty your bank account. Take Advantage Of Visitor Attractions. Museums are a great place to take the kids, and most of the major museums have free admission during the day. The British Museum is high on the list of recommended museums - with so many fascinating exhibits to choose from, your children won’t ever want to leave! For other great daytime activities that the whole family will enjoy, visit the Tower of London and the London Dungeon for a thrilling trip back in time. Admission rates are a little high, but thanks to the declining pound, it’s more affordable than ever before!

Ask For An Upgrade. One of the best perks of scoring a cheap flight to London is the possibility of getting an upgrade to business or even first class. Ask your ticketing agent if there are any available seats in the business or first class cabins; if there are, you can request to be put on a waiting list for the chance of a luxurious upgrade.
